NCH Research Foundation
About the Foundation

NCH Research Foundation was established in 1998 following the closure and sale of assets of the Northern Community Hospital, which operated on Main North Road, Prospect from 1952 to 1997. The foundation has funded $1.3M to grants and other initiatives for the Northern Communities in Adelaide.

The foundation’s vision is to Improve Improving Health in Northern Communities of Adelaide, and in particular the districts of the Councils of Prospect, Walkerville and Port Adelaide/Enfield.


Grants and awards are provided by the NCH Research Foundation Board to promote and assist health and medical-related research, support projects promoting better health and projects or programs incidental to the foregoing objectives.

In 2019, the NCHF established the Northern Communities Health Research Foundation (“the NCH Research Foundation”). The NCH Research Foundation receives donations to support a wide range of activities related to the Northern Communities of Adelaide.

The Board

A voluntary Board of nine members, with skills in Business, Economics, Finance, Medicine (Specialist and General Practice), Medical Academia, Human Resources, Health Management and Legal Services, Social Enterprise and Marketing is responsible for the management and administration of the Foundation.
